In this article, the author considers the need for innovative control, monitoring, and data-storage solutions for modern thermodynamic equipment. Contemporary thermal and power-generation systems require advanced technological solutions not only in terms of equipment design and construction, but, above all, in the management and continuous monitoring of all operating processes, including combustion and thermal stabilization.
This requirement becomes particularly important when various fuel mixtures and composite fuels are used in power-generating units, for example, fuel emulsions with a high water content. Under such operating conditions, fuel-supply parameters, as well as proportional air-supply control and monitoring, require an exceptionally flexible and responsive control system.
At the same time, the increasing complexity of control and monitoring operations results in a substantial growth in the volume of data that must be processed and stored. This, in turn, creates a demand for optical memory systems and high-capacity optical information-storage media with significantly increased storage density and capacity.
Within the framework of this article, the author focuses on an analysis of the conceptual basis for innovative information-storage media intended for integration into advanced thermodynamic control systems. To make the integration of such storage devices technically feasible and effective, their information capacity must be increased many times over compared with conventional solutions.
A preliminary analysis of the proposed system and its functional requirements is presented. Particular attention is given to the first and one of the most important sectors of the control and management system: the monitoring, identification, and analysis of all materials entering the technological process, as well as their compositions, combinations, and interactions.
