This study examines the strategic role of tourism as a catalyst for economic diversification and socio-economic welfare enhancement in the Republic of Azerbaijan, with a particular focus on its educational and psychosocial implications. Historically dependent on fossil fuels, Azerbaijan has increasingly prioritised the non-oil sector, within which tourism has emerged as a key driver of regional development, employment generation, and poverty alleviation. Drawing on empirical data from the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and international organisations, this paper analyses the macroeconomic transmission channels through which tourism expenditures translate into improved household welfare. The research demonstrates that tourism possesses a high employment multiplier, directly benefiting vulnerable labour groups, including rural youth and women. Beyond economic indicators, the study explores how tourism-related employment and entrepreneurship foster skill development, lifelong learning, community cohesion, and psychological well-being. By integrating educational and psychosocial perspectives, this paper contributes to a more holistic understanding of tourism's role in sustainable development.
