For decades, the media industry has been undergoing great changes. Traditional media are facing unprecedented challenges today. With the vigorous rise of new digital media, traditional media such as newspapers, radio, and television are gradually withdrawing from the historical stage or experiencing a transformation of the carrier form. This paper analyzes three driving factors of the great changes in the media industry, namely the progress of information technology, changes in the audiences’ reading habits, and the changes in enterprise marketing mode. Interview with media practitioners was conducted to provide first-hand data to analyze the overall impact of technological change on the media industry. Finally, it put forward two development directions for traditional media, that is, cooperation with existing news aggregation platforms and transformation to providing mobile news services.
