Annotation
In The Collection and The Lover Pinter depicts a world in which games give meaning to the characters' lives. The characters combine two natures in themselves, and the truth they speak is in a state of flux like Heraclitus' river, and it returns as reflected in the consciousness of the characters. Scenes depicted in one play are reflected in another play. There is no birth in the plays, and the characters are as infertile as the land is barren in Eliot’s poem.
