A poly(acrylic acid) (PAA)-assisted solvothermal preparation was investigated for a sodium–yttrium fluoride system with a nominal Y:Yb:Er molar ratio of 80:18:2. The reaction was conducted in ethylene glycol at 200 °C for 12 h, followed by centrifugal separation, washing and drying. The recovered dispersion was characterized by dynamic light scattering (DLS), and its optical appearance was examined under 365 nm irradiation. The fitted intensity distribution contained two apparent modes with software peak positions of 1.303 and 1178 nm and integrated intensity contributions of 26.3% and 73.7%, respectively. The larger component exhibited a strongly extended upper-size tail, so its numerical mean was not identified with a primary particle diameter. A blue-colored optical response was observed under UV illumination. These results describe the heterogeneous scattering behavior and qualitative UV response of the prepared PAA-containing system; the UV observation is distinguished from near-infrared-excited upconversion. The study relates the polymer-assisted preparation to the heterogeneous hydrodynamic response and preliminary optical behavior of the recovered dispersion.
