This study investigated the decomposition of low-grade phosphate ore from the Karakatin deposit using nitric acid. The chemical composition of the slurry, liquid phase, and solid residue formed under different nitric acid dosages (100–120%) and solid-to-liquid (S:L) ratios (1:2.5–1:4.0) was analyzed. The results demonstrated that increasing the nitric acid dosage and the S:L ratio promoted the transfer of phosphorus-containing components from the phosphate ore into the liquid phase. In addition, a decrease in the P₂O₅ content of the solid residue and an increase in the concentration of nitrate compounds in the liquid phase were observed during the decomposition process. The findings provide a scientific basis for determining the optimal technological parameters for processing low-grade phosphate ore and improving the efficiency of nitrogen-phosphorus mineral fertilizer production.
